iPhone maker Apple will use organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays for all its phone models from 2025 onwards.
Apple will say goodbye to liquid crystal displays (LCDs), as reported by Japan’s Nikkei newspaper.
OLEDs can deliver more vivid colours, making them ideal for watching HD videos. Besides, OLEDs also offer sharper contrast.
The Japan's newspaper also reported that Apple will no longer use Japan’s Sharp Corp and Japan Display, which have been supplying displays only for iPhone SE, from Apple’s handset business,
It also mentioned that the iPhone maker has placed orders from China and South Korea for OLED displays.
The American tech giant first introduced OLED displays in the iPhone X model and then started using OLED displays in premium models.
The latest screens have also been used in its recent iPad Pro models launched this year.
